17th Annual Lexington's Race Against Hunger
100% OF PROFIT FEEDS THE HUNGRY
$354,545.31 donated through 2016
2016 POST-EVENT SUMMARY
The Sixteenth Annual Lexington’s Race Against Hunger (LRAH) took place on Saturday, February 27, 2016. There was a bit of chill in the air, but it was a beautiful and sunny day that saw temps rise into the 50s for the 776 participants that filled the streets of Lexington. Miles Fowler from Gilbert, SC led the way in a time of 39:01. Ashlee Seers from Columbia, SC led the way for the women in 42:15.
We raised the awareness levels of hunger both locally and worldwide, and we will distribute $14,000 to our charities: Lexington’s Interfaith Community Services (LICS), World Vision, Oliver Gospel Missions, and Area Churches Together Serving (ACTS). In addition, nearly 900 lbs of food was donated to LICS through the event. This food drive was headed by Lexington United Methodist Church. This will bring our sixteen year total donations to $354,545.31.
Thanks to the 776 participants, approximately 90 law enforcement officers, over 70 volunteers, and all our wonderful sponsors, especially BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina who accounts for a large portion of generated income through both sponsorship and participation as they honor the memory of Curt Owens Jr.
BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina had 130 runners and walkers!
